Audubon Zoo

These shots aren’t exactly “perfect” – but neither is life.
On the way to the Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, the cab driver got lost (not really, he just didn't know where he was going) and took us to the Audubon Zoo.  The only cameras I had with me were my iPhone and a point and shoot.  These are the snapshots I took that cold, drizzly afternoon.

Have you ever noticed that a lot of zoos have the flamingos close to the main entrance?

The Cooper Plaza Fountain was impressive.  The elephant sculptures were really nice and the whole thing was BIG! It is being remodeled with new animal sculptures this year.  If you are in the area in May, you could attend the Sponsor and Patrons Party.

This sculpture was at least 7 feet tall.

Elephants are one of my favorite animals.

Two female Asian elephants, Panya and Jean are the biggest stars at the Audubon Zoo.

Mostly I see white tigers when I go to zoos.
There are two at this zoo.  I don't know if this is Rex or Zulu.

I enjoyed trying to take this picture.
You know those pay observation binoculars?
I took this picture shooting through one of the eye pieces.
Not very good, but it sure was fun trying to make it work. lol

If you want to see and hear the lion, watch this 15 second video.

The Audubon Zoo had the words,
 "Animals in your face',
displayed often enough that I remember it.
I have to agree.
There were more animals 'in my face' there than any other zoo I've visited.

Christy petted this chinchilla.  I don't know, but maybe it was Coleco

She also petted the goats.
I petted some big tortoises, but was too busy petting to take pictures of them.

Feeding a giraffe looked like messy fun.

I didn't want to pet this little fellow

     or this one.
I believe this was an Asian Black Bear.

Serendipity
Flexibility
We got to the wrong place and had a great time.
